"Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach. Any small, calm thing that one soul can do to help another soul, to assist some portion of this poor suffering world will help immensely. It is not given to us to know which acts or by whom, will cause the critical mass to tip toward an enduring good. One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul."

By Clarissa Pinkola Estes

The Winter Solstice is always a time symbolically of death and rebirth. This year the emphasis is particularly about giving birth to new beginnings as we enter a new decade. In a sense being our own midwives.  For some it is a time for great family and friend celebrations, for others a time of quiet reflection and others a time of conflict and loneliness - reminding us we are all different and the importance of kindness and compassion.

Before entering the 20s, it can be helpful to reflect on the past ten years, devise

our own ways of letting go of anything that has challenged us, celebrate our achievements and finally find it in our hearts to forgive ourselves and others.

The messages of this solstice are many - some of these may resonate with you, others may not. This is a very private process and more than anything is about self honesty and healing. The depth of feeling may surprise you if you choose to do this. Sometimes the Universe may just underline the issue for you and it will feel there no choice but move forwards. Our egos may also do somersaults over any one of the points:

. Overcoming perfectionism

. Self determination

. Being humane and compassionate as opposed to judgemental

. Sense of purpose

. High moral ground, dogmatic

. Sensuality, creativity (thinking outside of the box)

. Security

. Family

. Being clannish and conditional empathy

. Being supportive

. Balance

As this solstice is about new beginnings, the focus is about feeling we are in a safe place in our hearts, preparing fertile ground for the Spring with a supportive, healthy and respectful community around us. We have an opportunity to be trailblazers as we journey together into this new decade. It it says in the quote we have no idea what will tip us towards enduring good individually and globally. May we all be lighthouses xxx
